There are 8 major points in finalizing the contract Here are 3 of the eight: 1. Builders fee - amount and how paid 2. How builder draws are paid. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you insure that the builder or remodeler gets paid only for work COMPLETED. You could LOOSE possibly thousands of dollars if the sub-contractor, supplier and/or builder receives payment for work not completed and/or materials not on the job. The only exception to this is a supplier needs a 50% deposit for SPECIAL ORDER items. However, do not give an individual deposit monies; only give a reputable established company a deposit. In addition, you must receive a detailed receipt that records the deposit. 3. Substantial completion date and and penalites for late completion. |
